Waterproofing
Masonry needs protection from the elements while remaining breathable. Where appropriate, we apply a specialist BBA-approved masonry protection treatment that helps reduce water penetration, frost damage, salt contamination, and weathering without trapping moisture within the stone.
Unlike many standard masonry protection products that offer protection for only a few years, the treatment we use can provide up to 25 years of protection from a single application. It contains over 25% active ingredient, compared to around 2% in many conventional products, allowing it to penetrate deeply into the masonry and provide a durable, breathable barrier. The result is long-lasting protection against driving rain and damp, while helping buildings perform more efficiently, with potential energy savings of up to 29%.
Lime wash
Carefully selected for use on traditional and heritage properties, this treatment helps preserve the character, performance, and durability of historic masonry, supporting the long-term conservation of Wales’s built heritage.
As with all of our conservation work, protective treatments are only recommended where they are appropriate for the building. We always take a sympathetic, heritage-led approach, ensuring any intervention respects the original fabric, character, and breathability of the structure.
